47. Daniel Cuvet, 3B, ESB Academy (FL) – With as much raw power as any in this prep class, Cuvet is about as prototypical a power-power 3B as it gets. He has a massive arm, although he can get too confident in it and make plays closer than they need to be, and absolutely demolishes baseballs. There is plenty of swing and miss in the bat which does raise some concerns, but less in today’s game than a generation ago. He is one of the younger players in the class despite having a very mature and strong body. There is some fear he outgrows 3B and ends up as a lumbering right fielder or 1B, but the bat will play regardless of where he ends up defensively.

  Nolan McLean RHP/OF Oklahoma State   2-27-23 - Opening Weekend  - Nolan McLean , RHP/OF, Oklahoma State– The power hitting prospect has shifted from third base to the right field this season where his arm strength/raw power/defense tools profile well. During the Showdown he showed much more plate discipline with six walks against just two strikeouts compared to a 37/107 ratio in 242 at-bats last season. He also blasted a three-run home run to center field to put the Pokes back in the Vandy game, cutting the score to 11-8. It was a loud shot, one that needed earplugs from my seat. McLean is also a power prospect on the mound with a fastball up to 96 and a plus slider. He strong-armed Missouri for two strikeouts in the ninth inning to earn the save in State’s 5-3 win on opening night.
