Patrick Reilly
Vanderbilt
Being overshadowed by the likes of Kumar Rocker, Jack Leiter, and even Christian Little when he arrived in Nashville, Reilly has been a relatively well-kept secret. Reilly features a smooth and fluid delivery that comfortably projects into a rotation moving forward. The fastball has been up into the upper-90s, though he mostly rests in the mid-90s over longer outings. Reilly misses a ton of bats with the heater, though throwing more strikes early in counts with the pitch is the next step in his development. He features a slider that can be downright gnarly when he's got command of the pitch. It's got sharp two-plane break and impressive tunneling characteristics that can be hell on opposing hitters. He's also got some feel for turning over a changeup as well. Reilly has a lot of components scouts look for in a college arm and will have plenty of suitors in July.

36. Los Angeles Dodgers: Patrick Reilly, RHP, Vanderbilt
The Dodgers have drafted pitchers from Vanderbilt before and aren’t afraid to do so again here. Reilly throws high-90’s heat but will need some alterations to improve his control and command. The Dodgers first pick also moves back ten spots due to being over the competitive balance tax threshold.

Junior Patrick Reilly may be the most gifted, and intriguing, arm on what is an extremely talented staff. The 6-foot-3, 210-pound righthander from New Jersey pairs a mid-90s fastball with a power breaking ball in the 83-87 mph range. On the right day, Reilly looks like a big league starter. His career has been a little bit of a roller coaster ride (6-5, 4.99 ERA, 11.5 K/9, 5.9 BB/9) but the raw materials are exceptional. Reilly has made ten career starts and his arsenal will play both in that role or in high leverage scenarios.

25. Patrick Reilly, RHP, Vanderbilt – Starter or reliever? That is the big question with Reilly. He has been primarily used as a multi-inning reliever but will likely be the Friday night arm for Vandy this season where he will need to demonstrate better command if he is going to convince teams he can be a long term starting pitcher. His fastball sits mid-90s to go with a solid slider and mixes in a cutter and change as well. He hides the ball well so all his offerings play up some and he is able to generate plenty of downhill action despite the 3/4 slot. The stuff and delivery are absolutely good enough to be a long tem starter, he just needs to fine tune the command and consistency, if he does, he could really rise on a lot of draft boards.

Patrick Reilly
Vanderbilt
Being overshadowed by the likes of Kumar Rocker, Jack Leiter, and even Christian Little when he entered the fray, Reilly has been a relatively well-kept secret in Nashville, but had a coming out party in the Cape Cod League in 2021. Reilly features a smooth and fluid delivery that comfortably projects moving forward. The fastball has been up into the upper-90s, though he mostly enjoys sitting in the mid-90s most nights. He misses a ton of bats with the heater, though throwing more strikes early in counts with the pitch is the next step in his development. Reilly features a slider that can be diabolical when he's got command of the pitch. It's got sharp two-plane break and impressive tunneling characteristics that can be hell on opposing hitters. He's also got some feel for turning over a changeup. He'll be tested moving forward over long innings with Vanderbilt as a weekend guy.

20. Phillies: Patrick Reilly, RHP, Vanderbilt
A bit of an upside play here, as Reilly worked mostly as a reliever at Vandy in 2022, albeit one who threw more than 50 innings. The stuff can be pretty electric but the comand is spotty, with a fastball that touches 98 mph and sits around 94-95, a low-80s slider that misses a lot of bats, plus a changeup and cutter.
