Brayden Taylor, 3B, TCU- Similar to EBJ, I love the baseball player that is Brayden Taylor. He has top of the scale instincts and feel for the game. In coach speak, he’s a “ballplayer.” His high-level bat-to-ball skills have produced a lengthy track record of success in the batter’s box both at TCU (.314/.454/.576 in 2022) and for the USA CNT last summer. He also started out rocking with a 7-for-12 (.583/.706/.917) showing at the College Baseball Showdown. Taylor is also a capable defender at the hot corner and has shown steady improvement over the course of his career. With a projectable 6-foot-1, 180-pound frame he also stands out for his potential to juice his stock even further with a jump in power production. Our current ranking of No. 8 is part prediction of his power popping this spring, which his 110 mph EV home run to right field on Friday against Vanderbilt was a step in the right direction. However, if his average exit velocities don’t increase to a more elite level (near average last season when compared to his college peers), he will likely land towards the bottom third of the first round, as opposed to the top third.

TCU shortstop Brayden Taylor is soaring up draft boards. A big lefty stick with true hitter-ish tendencies, Taylor and I discuss exit velocities, growing up in Utah, idolizing Derek Jeter and modeling some of his game off Brandon Crawford.
12-15-22 - 2023 MLB Mock Draft:
10. Brayden Taylor, SS, TCU
Taylor is a solid left-handed bat who can play both middle infield positions. He could even play third base if needed. He also rips line drives like it's his day job because it's his day job.

10. Miami Marlins: Brayden Taylor, third base, TCU
The Miami Marlins are one of the instances where the team’s needs factors into determining who to give them in our MLB mock draft. To put it simply, Miami needs every hitter it can get its hands on. While Taylor will never lead the NL in batting average and likely won’t reach 25 home runs, he would provide the Marlins would some long-term stability in their lineup.
12-12-22 - 2022 Fall Report: TCU
https://d1baseball.com/fall/tcu-2022/
The Horned Frogs have plenty of reasons to feel confident about the offense. It is obviously led by All-American third baseman Brayden Taylor. Taylor, one of the nation’s premier prospects, played shortstop at times this fall, and was impressive there. However, Saarloos would like to keep him at third if possible. He continued to add strength and make good strides in the fall.

9. Brayden Taylor
Shortstop, TCU
TCU's Brayden Taylor handled himself very well against the older and stiffer competition on the Cape this past summer for Falmouth after big years at TCU. Taylor has a short, simple swing from the left side with good upper body rotation and whippy bat speed. Taylor’s profile is actually carried by the bat, showcasing loud line drive and fly ball exit velocities to his pull-side. Taylor shows a keen eye at the plate, refusing to expand his zone in favorable counts and commonly walking more than he punches out. He played a bit of second base, but with good range to his right and a strong arm, he projects a more natural fit at third base if he’s forced off the shortstop position. He is an average runner.

7. Brayden Taylor, 3B, Texas Christian
Taylor lacks a true plus tool but does a little bit of everything, controlling the strike zone, generating power without selling out for it and looking steadier at the hot corner than he does in the middle infield. He produced nearly identical numbers in his freshman and sophomore seasons, batting a combined .319/.450/.574 with 25 homers and 25 steals.

17. Baltimore Orioles
Brayden Taylor, Infield, TCU
The Orioles have dropkicked open a competitive window that the Baltimore faithful should be awfully excited about. They’ve got prospects or full-time fixtures at virtually every position, so the team has the luxury of grabbing the best player that fits their models. Taylor checks a lot of boxes. He makes a ton of contact and flashes average power with the versatility to play anywhere on the field. Taylor is one of the most decorated players in college baseball at handling high velocity. He could move quick.

Mack -
Taylor impressed this summer with a wooden bat.
I have him currently at short, though most experts project him eventually to the hot corner.
