Eric Bitonti

Aquinas

Bitonti offers one of the most visually appealing swings in the entire prep class. High-level hit/power combo that's well-balanced throughout as a left handed hitter featuring a bat path that's conducive to all-fields power. Bitonti showcases an ultra-projectable, long frame that he incorporates extremely well into both his swing and throws across the diamond showing staying power on the left side of the infield. The Oregon commit has an immense package of tools that flash Day One upside. Scouts will want to see the swing-and-miss come down a fair tick in 2023, especially as it pertains to breaking balls. Bitonti won't turn 18 years old until December following the draft. He's incredibly young. This will be a model pick in July.

3B Eric Bitonti, Aquinas HS (CA)

6’4” 205lb Throws: Right Bats: Left

One year removed from selecting a talented left-handed hitting prep bat to plug into the left side of the infield, Bitonti would make it two straight were he to land in Seattle on draft day. After manning the six-hole throughout his high school career, it seems likely that the bigger-bodied Bitonti would move to the hot corner in the future. The University of Oregon commit uses all of his supersized frame to develop supersized power without looking out of control in the batter’s box. At just 17 years old, it’s easy to get excited about him as the more power-centric compliment next to Cole Young on the left side of Seattle for years to come.

27. San Diego Padres | Eric Bitonti, 3B, Aquinas HS (Calif.)

The Padres under AJ Preller like to take big swings, taking late riser Jackson Merrill and James Wood with their first two picks in 2021 and now both of those are among the best prospects in baseball. Bitonti possesses monster upside, not too dissimilarly to Wood, with a huge frame and violent swing from the left side. He’s going to mature into substantial power and as he fills out, will likely move off shortstop. Bitonti is also one of the youngest players in the class as he's still just 16 years old. -VC

15. Boston Red Sox

Eric Bitonti, Infield, Aquinas

The Red Sox have gone so incredibly heavy on California prep shortstops in recent years that, at this point, it’s almost impossible to ignore. Bitonti is more of a power-first infielder with tremendous bat-speed. He may end up at third base or in left field, but you’re buying the bat here. Bitonti will be just 17 years old on draft day, so models will continue to value him very highly.

Eric Bitonti is a 2023 SS/3B with a 6-4 215 lb. frame from Hesperia, CA who attends Aquinas. Big and strong athletic build, stands out physically. Left handed hitter, hits from a slightly open balanced bent knee stance, uses his lower half well to generate bat speed, uphill swing with huge power potential, present bat speed and still plenty of projection, sees the ball very well and controls the strike zone, high ceiling offensive tools. 7.00 runner in the sixty. Moves very well on defense for his size, light on his feet, throws well on the move and when off balance, solid present arm strength. Excellent student, verbal commitment to Oregon.
